Have your site reviewed by someone who has never seen it before. This is especially important for businesses: Your customers need to be able to find what they need quickly, easily and without confusion or frustration. Give your tester something to find and have them test how hard it is to find it. A trusted customer is perfect for the job.
Use the experts
Apart from using family, friends or select customers, some message boards will let you post a link to your site for review. This way, you get the opinions of people who spend a lot of time on the internet and know a thing or two about good and bad sites. My recommendation is Development Shed's Website Critiques forum, where I can be seen under the username 'cybersaga'. Reading what's said about other sites will also give you an idea about what to do and what not to do.
